Bicycling Across America
During the first two months of my sabbatical, the plan is to go for a bike ride. A long bike ride of 4200 miles from Seattle to Boston, June 20-August 21, 2010. I'm riding with about 40 other cyclists on a ride organized by Cycle America.
Hi Scott. I couldn't find a way to email you so I'm posting here. LOVE that banner photo with the chalk map and having photos at every state line too.
I enjoyed reading your blog and wanted to touch base with you. My husband and I are signed up to do the whole cross country tour this summer. We plan to blog. I’m curious how hard it was to find consistent internet? We’ll be bringing a netbook. I’m debating getting a Verizon mobile hotspot and paying for 2 months of service. But from what Greg says while Verizon’s phone coverage is excellent in the outback, their data coverage is based on population density so in the outback even a mobile hotspot would not provide coverage. At that point I’m wondering if we should just rely on cafes and libraries. Are you able to speak to your experience in this regard?
We’d love to hear any other advice you have as well. We’ll be riding our tandem and have already started training. The longest single ride we’ve done is a double century and the longest number of days trip we’ve done is 14 days of riding. So this will be a lot more but we’re not coming at it totally green either. Our preliminary blog is already up at http://www.2012.s2cycle.com.

What adventures do you have planned next?
